The business of Brooks Building Products had its beginning over one hundred five years ago. In 1895 Mr. Timothy Terrell Brooks and his son, Mr. Frank A. Brooks, Sr., started their roofing and supply business on a site in Greensboro. It was initially known as Brooks Manufacturing Company and was incorporated under that name within the State of North Carolina. The name was later changed to Brooks Lumber Company. The primary source of revenue was from retail sales. There was also a sawmill operation cutting rough lumber into 1"x4" boards and a small contracting business to supplement sales revenue and as an installation service for Brooks customers.

Our Raleigh Location

During 1995, Brooks Lumber reorganized into Brooks Building Products. Mark Schwartz joined the management team as President and General Manager. In partnership with F.A. "Terry" Brooks, Brooks was transformed into a specialty products entity with emphasis on treated wood, windows and doors, and glue-lam/heavy timber structural systems. Business quickly expanded and we opened a Cary, North Carolina location in 1998. With business continuing to expand, we moved to our own building on Tarheel Drive in Raleigh in August, 2002.

Mark Schwartz, President, Brooks Building Products

Mark Schwartz, President of Brooks Building Products, has over 31 years experience in the building materials field. He has been the former Vice President/General Manager of Koppers Company Inc., Glulam Systems Division, National Marketing Manager for the Wolmanized Treated Wood brand and Product Manager for Dricon Fire Retardant Treated Wood.

Jeff Miller, Manager - Building Products

Jeff Miller, General Manager of retail sales for both Raleigh and Greensboro, joined Brooks in the spring of 2003. Jeff has 24 years of building products experience having worked for Georgia-Pacific and Weyerhaeuser in sales and national accounts.

Richard Payne, General Manager of Heavy Timber Systems, has over 15 years of experience in glue-lam/heavy timber systems. He was the former owner and General Manager of TBC Construction, an erection company for glue-lam/heavy timber. He has built hundreds of structures worldwide.
